Wonder of wonder, miracles of miracles

Okay, you win nothing for knowing what musical that song is from. :)

Well, today for me is a day of wonder and miracles.

First, Jim IS DOING BETTER. He has been on the beta glucan now for 5 days, and yesterday he went to lunch with 2 friends (that is a miracle in itself, even if he was 100 percent better, but that's another story) and then he went to Costco....WITHOUT ME. He came home beat, but the point is, HE CAN SIT. HIS PAIN LEVEL IS BACK TO A 6. Praise the Lord. Funny how if he ever started out at a pain level 6, he would feel like death, but to get back to a level 6 is WONDERFUL.

3 days after he started the supplements, we went to Ikea (shut up Gaz) and was there 3 hours. 3 hours....3 hours, can you hear this???? And then we went to Steak and Shake, and Jim felt so good that he got up and ran around the restaurant. DID YOU HEAR THAT. Ran. He didn't walk like a gimp, either. And then he drove home. Why? BECAUSE I WAS BEAT. He wore me out.

So, as it stands, here is the good news:
  • Jim is on 30 mgs of methadone a day and holding. (he can't go up because it shuts other things down)
  • He is now able to sit better than he was. Still needs a bit more sitting power.
  • He is smiling.
  • He is back to a level 6 pain
  • He feels more hope in his ability to enjoy each day that the Lord gives him.
  • His bros and sis's are coming over this weekend and he's excited rather than fearful.
The bad news:
  • We have to go to the NIH next week.
  • Jim is addicted speakers, receivers, and other multi-media sound equipment.
Anyway, the sun is shining today inside and out. And it feels good.

Oh, wait. Here is the other miracle. Several years ago, we had to get a whole new boiler system that Jim installed. This was before he got cancer. Anyway, our gas bill the first year never went down. We were still paying 400.00 a month in the winter. (200.00 a month budget) and we were still cold, having to keep it turned down. Jim got cancer that winter and never was able to give our new system much attention. This year he did. We were both tired of being cold, so we turned the heat up. Too bad. He played with some doodads on the system and we have been warm all winter AND our new budget is 71.00 a month. That's almost a bigger miracle than anything.

Anyway, thanks for hanging in there waiting to hear. I'm glad I was able to share some good news with you all.

Yay for good news!!! Today is turning out to be a very good day.

Is the trip next week just for a check up, or something specific? This time you will have a driving partner, that's a bonus. ;)

So glad to hear you guys are getting some relief, and staying warm!

How is being addicted to multi-media equipment a bad thing?

My take on it is that you've been answered. The news I wanted to hear.

Open Up Your Heart and Let the Sun Shine in:

Mommy told me something
a little kid should know.
It's all about the devil
and I've learned to hate him so.
She said he causes trouble
when you let him in the room.
He will never ever leave you
if your heart is filled with gloom.

So let the sun shine in
face it with a grin.
Smilers never lose
and frowners never win.
So le the sun shine in
face it with a grin
Open up your heart and let the sun shine in.

When you are unhappy,
the devil wears a grin
But oh, he starts to running
when the light comes pouring in
I know he'll be unhappy
'Cause I'll never wear a frown
Maybe if we keep on smiling
He'll get tired of hanging 'round.

If I forget to say my prayers
the devil wears a grin.
But he feels so awful awful
when he sees me on my knees
So if you're full of trouble
and you never seem to win,
Just open up your heart and let the sun shine in.
So let the sun shine in
face it with a grin.
Smilers never lose
and frowners never win.
So le the sun shine in
face it with a grin
Open up your heart and let the sun shine in.
