A few weeks ago, our former Pastor, who has now moved on to new things that God is doing in his life, came and visited us, and brought communion. It was truly the best communion service I had ever experienced.
I thought this was a beautiful picture of Jim and Dave.

I love the picture!
I wanted to comment to you Jim, that it is a spiritually and emotionally healthy place to not want to die. God created us to live. The curse of the "fall" is death. Of course we want to be with Jesus and that is the longing for his return but it is a good thing to desire to continue to live.
Of course, when someone has a terminal illness it is also emotionally and spiritually healthy to look into the face of Jesus with joy as he welcomes you home. Within these two contrasting emotions there will be many days of feeling the extremes of either end of the pendulum. On one hand you want to be with your savior and on the other hand you want to stay with your dear wife and go fishing at the cottage and do all the wonderfully human things that we enjoy in this world that God created for us.
Your facing death is a lot different than what we faced with Nathaniel when he was a baby and toddler. Gary and I faced the very real possibility of his death and grieved that with incredible anguish. But Nathaniel didn't go through any of that process. But you have your own grief to process, not just Dolly's grief but your own.
Gary and I just wanted to write to you (since I write to Dolly all the time) and tell you that we are praying for you and that we walk with you in "spirit" through all the contrasting emotions that you are experiencing.
May the peace of God cover you and carry you through this time.
