Jim & Dolly . . . my wife and I are long time friends with Bob & Ruthie, and we have been praying for you both in these most difficult times. And in our prayers, we share . . .

“One Breath”
Reflections of a passage from Psalm 119

In Psalm 119, the overflowing zeal and praise of for the Word of God is expressed in one of the longest Psalms ever written in the Bible. Such strong emotions are often the result of one’s answers being made apparent by God in ways not to be easily understood, but yet cherished at times of great despair and anguish. In verses 145 – 152 (in quotes) one can find the following:

"I call with all my heart; answer me, O Lord, and I will obey your decrees. I call out to you; save me and I will keep your statutes."
I seek in my despair, a lamb lost among the sheep
A heart you would repair, for a promise I shall keep

"I rise before dawn and cry for help; I have put my hope in your word."
To cry on bended knee, for that I’ll always cherish
Your law that I might see, that our love shall never perish

"My eyes stay open through the watches of the night that I may meditate on your promises."
The watches of the night, where three did guard the twelve’s’
No weary eyes would sight, the threat where evil dwells
For wide alert and true, to mediate the promise
The faithful hearts though few, no longer doubting Thomas

"Hear my voice in accordance with your love; preserve my life O Lord, according to your laws. Those who devise wicked schemes are near, but they are far from your law."
And those within the voice, as wicked schemes draw near
For us there is a choice, a greater love, they’ll fear.

"Yet you are near, O Lord, and all your commands are true. Long ago I learned from your statutes that you established them to last forever."
I feel thy presence O Lord, “one breath” is thy command
Thy Word my chosen pledge, forever shall it stand.

To my Father, who taught me the strength of compassion, the courage of faith and the pledge of commitment . . . be we ever so humbled by the Word of God.

God Bless and watch over you both.
